The Nollywood industry has been struck by another heartbreaking tragedy as beloved actress Nkechi Nweje has passed away after a brief illness.
Her sudden departure has left colleagues, fans, and loved ones in deep sorrow.
Renowned movie producer Stanley Ajemba, popularly known as Stanley Ontop, confirmed the devastating news on Saturday. Struggling to accept the loss, he shared an emotional tribute:
“Nollywood in tears as we lost one of our vibrant actresses, @nkechi.nweje, after a brief illness. It still feels like a dream. My best friend, always calling to advise me… The last time we spoke, she told me, ‘Ontop, stop.’ I’m still speechless.”
Actress Chizzy Alichi also expressed her grief, revealing how difficult it has been to process Nweje’s passing. Taking to social media, she poured out her emotions:
“I didn’t believe when I heard the news. I prayed it was fake, a prank, anything but real. But just like that, you are gone. My ever-smiling, happy mama. This hurts differently. RIP Ezinne .”
Nweje, known for her warmth and exceptional talent, is survived by her husband and six children. Her legacy in Nollywood will forever be cherished.
